In our latest article, we mainly saw how the environment can benefit from the use of LPG. Of course, this positively affects people’s health.
But how can we state that LPG can even drive economic growth?
The LPG industry consists of thousands of companies that employ millions of people around the globe. From 2020 to 2027, the global LPG market is set to grow, also because providing access to LPG nationwide requires relatively little capital expenditure and can be implemented fairly quickly.
Moreover, benefits related to the usage of LPG allow it also to play an important social role. Keep on reading.
LPG is accessible everywhere
Unfortunately, more than 40 million European households in rural areas are not connected to gas grids and consumers often have to rely on high polluting energy. Fortunately, the number of government initiatives taken to educate the rural population to replace LPG with traditional cooking fuels, is growing.
Regardless of where you are, LPG can play its part! This is what we claimed in the video we prepared to celebrate the LPG day. What Cavagna Group highlighted on June 7th was precisely the remarkable accessibility of this energy source. Speaking from every part of the world, the employees of Cavagna Group attested that LPG benefits remain aligned worldwide, regardless of country.
That’s possible because it’s not only on the grid where LPG can make a difference. LPG is a game changer in energy transition plans, as it’s a sustainable energy source, retrievable in both cities and rural areas, in developed and developing countries.
In fact, alongside that, LPG is easy to use and safe to transport, even in the outermost regions. As it doesn’t need pipelines to be delivered, it’s usually transported via sea, rail or road, safely stored in containers, bulk tanks or refillable cylinders. These containers leave no unpleasant odour and the product does not lose its quality, even when stored for a long time.
The way it’s delivered and stored also makes it less exposed to natural disasters, thus ensuring security of supply. That’s significant in particular for rural areas and remote communities where LPG is not a choice, but the only feasible option. Here, LPG is the primary power source for different kinds of activities. In some cases, LPG is a bridge fuel on the way to natural gas, in others it is the perfect long-term solution. In any case, LPG could be the key for a cleaner and a more sustainable future.
LPG is powerful and easy to use
LPG actually has thousands of applications and is truly an exceptional energy. It provides reliable, constant and transportable energy, while respecting the planet and people’s health.
An LPG fuelled engine, with a higher calorific value than petrol, offers full engine performance, enabling it to reach the same output as a petrol or diesel engine. All this is possible without compromising any safety standards, power or practicality of engines. LPG burns without polluting the soil and reduces engine maintenance, which means fewer repairs, greater reliability and overall a longer engine life.
Once the LPG cylinder is connected to the equipment, it is ready to use. The same LPG cylinder can be used with many different appliances. Simply disconnect the appliance and reattach it to another, utilizing the same cylinder.
LPG fuelled engines combine performance and safety, and for many applications, such as forklift trucks, LPG is unmatched by any alternative.
An exceptional energy at women’s side
Switching to LPG reduces the carbon footprint and cleans the air, but it means more than that. For example, especially in developing countries, the advantages for the environment add up to a ‘social progress’ as well. As declared by the World LPG Association in 2018, those who can take advantage of burning LPG instead of traditional fuels are predominantly women and girls. Women are historically doing the majority of the cooking, and especially in some countries where people still can’t choose to cook with clean fuels, they suffer a lot from these conditions. In order to collect firewood, they have to walk long distances and put their own safety at risk, not to mention the amount of hours spent every day, that would otherwise be invested in a more productive way. Women’s empowerment is one of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 and the LPG industry can certainly lend a hand in achieving it!
In conclusion, all around the World but particularly in developing countries, this exceptional energy is crucial in phasing out the use of solid fuels. With LPG, we offer one of the few affordable and low carbon solutions, immediately available to keep homes and local businesses running and lead the economic growth of developing countries.
